Mar. 28th, 2008

Wow, there went March. 🙂 (Almost. But it’s the last friday in March 2008.)

Let’s begin…

» Letters I Never Sent

[self explanatory]
Yet another confessional / expository website. Some poignant, sad and lovely letters here.
Sent in by Traci T.

» Chinese-English Building Blocks

Some odd choices or mis-namings of ordinary words.

» Random Conspiracy Theory

One I just generated: “The Pentagon is looking for proof that the tallest person in the Eiffel Tower has spent the last two years using unknown technology to secretly record the intimate thoughts of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.”
Quite insane.

» Linkaball

Addictive. Fun. Yay.

Happy post-Easter / Passover Friday, everyone. Enjoy your weekend!

Mar. 21st, 2008

Phew! Back from vacation and ready to deliver more fresh Friday link goodness.

Here goes…

» MixWit

Attempting to reinvigorate the now-dead mix-tape (as in cassette) compilation, this site allows you to create your own streaming mix tape for that special someone. Neat idea and interface. Some really varied sets on this site.

» Yosuke Yamashita: Burning Piano Performance

On March 8, pianist Yosuke Yamashita donned a fireproof suit and played a burning piano on a beach in Ishikawa prefecture.
It’s possibly more impressive that he was able to play while wearing a fireproof suit (with huge gloves!)

» Bruno9li

Bruno9li is an artist from (at the moment) Brasil. His work is pretty vast and engaging.

» Contour

The gameplay may not be obvious, but once you figure it out, you’ll want to keep going… and going…
Sent in by Ash. (Thanx again, Ash!)

Happy Easter Weekend everyone.

Mar. 7th, 2008

[Inhale] Friiiiidayyyyeeeeeee!

And next week: I’m on vacation. So no links next week. As a result: Bonus link!

» Instrucciones para cuidar un bebé

(Instructions to take care of a baby.) The site is in Spanish, but the advice is universal (and insane.)
Sent in by Kevin K. Nice one.

» The Back-of-the-Envelope Design Contest: The George W. Bush Presidential Library

Some fascinating designs here, and obviously scathing annotations.

» What I Killed Today

A vet blogs about unhealthy animals he had to put down. Sad, but also fascinating.

» Line Runner

Very fast, very addictive. Takes some getting used to but it’s a fun one. Not the same as Linerider, but definitely fun.

Bonus Link!

» Saul Bass: The Star Wars opening credits

Not really by Saul Bass. This was a student project. And damn good.

Happy Friday, and have a great weekend!
