Well here we are. Friday. The last one in August 2011. *Sigh*

This week’s links are largely art-inspired.

Lemme show ya what I got…

» Katsuyo Aoki: Works

Obviously this content may change over time but I was drawn to his ceramic skulls series entitled “Predictive Dreams”. There is some stunning work here.

» A work in progress – ‘Solitude’ 2010/2011

“I started work on this image back in 2010. It is 8ft across & 5ft high. In these photos I am only working in graphite. Later I will go in with ink and acrylic.”
This is really impressive.
You can buy a print as well.

» Ignacio Torres: Stellar

“This project began from the theory that humans are made of cosmic matter as a result of a stars death.”
Some really clever and beautiful effects in this online gallery.

» Experimental Shooter

A more challenging flash game than you might expect.

» Brilliantly smart-ass responses to completely well-meaning signs.

I think my favorite is “Surprise! Jazz Hands!”

See you next week.

Welcome back, Friday. We missed you.

And look! Some links!

» fizy.com

“fizy is an online jukebox that was designed with the express aim of being simple and easy to use. enjoy and share it with your friends.”
No doubt. Type in an artist name, genre, year, song title, and instantly: a playlist of music. Really well done (but a bit mystifying if you didn’t know what it did.) Great interface too.

» International Photography Awards: 2011 Winners

Some really, really great work here.
Sent in by Kylie M.

» Scandybars

“Like a blog in a candy store”
Very precise dissections of candy bars from around the world.
Odd.

» Wonderputt

A really, really great little mini-golf flash game. Well thought out, great design, addictive. Well done.
Discovered by Ashy.

» Where’s Wall-E?

It’s Friday the 12th!

Does that mean it’s more lucky or less lucky than if it were the 13th? Hmmm…

Here are your Friday Linkages!

» Yowa Yowa Camera Woman Diary

“yowayowa camera woman = natsumi
Lives in Tokyo with two cats.
Photographs mainly levitating self-portraits (and cats not levitating).”

Odd but very well done.

» Frozen Pints: Craft Beer Ice Cream

[somewhat self explanatory]
Who’s up for some Malted Milk Chocolate Stout!
Kind of “ugh”.

» Jonathan’s Card

This one is definitely making the rounds.
Jonathan Stark decided to try a social experiment by posting his Starbucks card publicly, and then letting the masses use the card for a pre-paid coffee, or to donate money to the card for the masses to receive a pre-paid coffee. It’s turned into a fascinating little setup. There is a Twitter feed and aFacebook page.

» Little Fins

A neat take on a side scrolling flash game. And kind of cute.
Sent in by Heather D.

» 5 Ridiculous Secrets Only Two Living People Know

Interesting. Among them: the meaning of the four symbols on Led Zeppelin’s fourth album.
Yes, there is a part 1 as well.

Oh man is it Friday yet?

Oh man yes it is!!

Here we go…

» nosh.me’s 404 page

This is quite the adventure.

» Ten Frighteningly Prophetic Parodies from ‘The Critic’

I don’t know how many of you remember this late-90’s show but it was (in my opinion at least) funny. It also turned out to be pretty accurate at reporting some of the more ridiculous things Hollywood would consider releasing. Who knew?

» 25 Haunting Shipwrecks Around the World

[self explanatory]
Beautiful.

» Dire Haven

A really fun, really fast little platformer game.
Sent in by Ashy.

Bonus Link!

» Inverse Graphing Calculator

Did I mention I’m a nerd? 🙂

As an extra bonus, here’s a selection from today’s Friday Videos, which you can also subscribe to:

» Move
“3 guys, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, an exploding volcano, 2 cameras and almost a terabyte of footage…”
Really well done.

Enjoy your Friday and your Weekend everybody.
