Welcome back to Friday, which is still a thing in 2018.
Hey also: welcome to 2018!
It’s link time!
A series of lists (with quantifiable references) for things that occur every second. (e.g.: spotify song plays, animal heartbeats, McDonald’s burger sales, etc.)
Sort of making the rounds. I like it!
Create a variety of dynamically generated sandcastles and then watch them get washed away to sea.
Uses either html5 or Flash. Nicely done.
Clever little JavaScript animations, but written in only 140 characters or less.
I’m amazed at what these people come up with. Kind of cool.
The goal is to stop cars from hitting each other. It gets crazy difficult the more cars there are, which takes some time.
What every Browser knows about you
[self explanatory]
To be clear though, these are things that browsers have always known about us.
I’m concerned that we’re nearing a point where some sites just won’t work without allowing all of it.
Interesting!
Finally, there were so, so many “year in photos” galleries. I’ll just link to the great compendium kottke put together.
Or how about this Flickr group for your best shot of 2017? Also pretty great.
And that is the end of your first Friday Links of 2018!
Enjoy your (hopefully not too cold, Bomb Cyclone sufferers) weekend.
