Apologies, this week was busy. And not a good one. And so I only have three links. And so I’m sorry.
Using a film process known as “Autochrome”, color photography was possible far earlier than you may think. It was just very complicated and expensive.
Something about very old photography that either is color or has been colorized using modern techniques really makes it feel like it’s right now.
Related tangent: Marina Amaral is at the forefront of this and I thought it was worth mentioning her work.
“Explore the world via Google Street View. MapCrunch teleports you to a random place in the world. Discover the vast array of imagery captured by Google in 50 countries, featuring spectacular scenery, magical moments and the utterly unexplainable”
I’ve posted a few of these over the years but this one has some truly unique destinations.
Since none of us can travel for real right now, this is okay.
Only $90 billion left…
That is what I’ve got.
Happy Friday! I hope its a good one where you are.
Hang in there. Have a great weekend.
