Jun. 29th, 2007

This is a long weekend where I live, and an even longer weekend for our American friends.

Here goes…

» The Armageddon Flowchart

Insane and somewhat rambling, but funny. 🙂

» The Astronomical Observatories of Jai Singh II

Between 1727 and 1734 Maharajah Jai Singh II of Jaipur constructed five astronomical observatories in west central India.
These are definitely some of the most unique looking structures I think I’ve ever seen.

» Film Techniques of Alfred Hitchcock

“How to turn your boring movie into a Hitchcock thriller…”
Pretty interesting dissection.

» Overkill Apache!

1) Collect weapons 2) Use them 3) Make some NOISE
The powerups on this game are kind of ridiculous. And entertaining. 🙂 Reminds me of 1988 or something.

Bonus Link!

» The Truth About Wireless Devices

I laughed. But I’m a nerd. 🙂

Happy Long Weekend folks, and Happy Friday for the rest of you.

Jun. 22nd, 2007

It’s the first Friday Links of Summer!

Here we go…

» Best Five Second Video On The Internet

No but like: really! Endlessly re-watchable. Caution on the volume.
With apologies to mefi readers.

» Easy-Glider

Crazy looking electric scooter. Apparently considered good competition for the unfortunately-marketed Segway. I kinda want one (but their country list doesn’t include mine. 🙁 )
This one’s been making the rounds so apologies if this got sent to you many times by other people.

» EasyPost

You can send free letter mail to and from anywhere in Canada. (Note: not available for any other country. Also: limited time on the “free” part.)

» Crazy Mammoths

A deceptively challenging yet very simple and quite addictive game. Read the instructions.

Have a fabulous weekend folks.

Jun. 15th, 2007

Mid-month, of the mid-year month of June.

And it’s Friday! 🙂

» Funny, But No

Rejected greeting card ideas from Shoebox Greetings. Some ridiculously bad, yet funny entries (which I would probably still buy.)
Also see here, and here

» Tim Knowles: Tree Drawings

Artist Tim Knowles attaches pens and other instruments to the branches of trees, and the trees “draw”. Very abstract, obviously, but there are some actually quite beautiful pieces in here.

[self explanatory (?!), and insane.]
Yes I linked to the uncyclopedia before but this deserves special mention.

» White Jigsaw

Oh sure it starts off simple, but wait until you get to the 30 x 30 puzzles.

Hope that your weekend is awesome.

Happy Friday!

Jun. 8th, 2007

Here goes!

» Passive-Aggressive Notes From Roommates, Neighbors, Coworkers And Strangers

[self explanatory]
Wow people get uptight about the strangest things. Also see The Office Sign Project.

» Light Sprites

Fun and (of course) addictive.

» HiRISE: High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment

Featuring (they claim) terrabytes of high resolution images from NASA’s Mars Reconnaisance Orbiter. You don’t have to be a nerd like me to enjoy the genuine beauty in some of these images.
Also see: Mars Rovers Galleries.

» Stupid Comics

Featuring “The Pony Who Liked Fun.” Yikes!

Have a great weekend all.

Jun. 1st, 2007

Welcome to Friday! And welcome to June!

Here are your Friday Links…

» You Cannot Resist LOLcats

These have been making the rounds and they make me laaaaaff!
Also see the Random Kitten Generator, and icanhascheezburger.com.

» DHKY: For More Better Life

I know: “whuh?!”. New York based designer David Yu. His portfolio is impressive, as is the interface.

» Aircraft Lavatory Graphics

[Self explanatory] [And: ?!?!]

» Desktop Tower Defence

It’s a bit complex: set up some towers which do different things, set them in enough of a line that the invaders can’t easily get around them, and then hit “start” and watch the defence take place. A bit difficult, but addictive.

Happy first day of June everybody. Have a great weekend.
