Friday again. Surpriiiise!!

Here we go…

SFMTA Photo Shelter

SFMTA = The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.

This is a huge trove of photography created by this transit authority. It covers a selection of years between 1903 and 1975. Some of these are just amazing.

Underwater Street Views

Google merges several “Views” into the broader Google Maps app.

And it’s not just oceans, either.

These are great.

The Kitten Covers

A series of recreations of classic album covers using kittens. Oddly, several of these look pretty close to the originals.

Happy Wheels

I do not know what is even happening here. But I am playing this repeatedly.

The two long reads I recommend this week are as follows:

Paul Ford: What is Code?

This has been making the rounds and it is definitely long but in my opinion worth it.

Four Columbia House insiders explain the shady math behind “8 CDs for a penny”

This I post not purely for nostalgic reasons but because it illustrates that the music business has rarely if ever been about compensating their artists, especially in pre-internet days.

Have a great weekend everybody. It’s mid-June!

P.S. Are you guys excited about the X-Files reboot?
