We have arrived at Friday, at last.
I hope you’re all doing okay. This has been a hell of a week.
It is link time! Let’s go.
More on the Queen here. She was the granddaughter of the Egyptian pharaoh Khufu – he of the most well-known classic pyramid.
She lived from c. 2620–2570 BC.
A lot of you saw last week’s virtual tour of Rameses VI and sent me htis, so thank you. It’s amazing.
“This Word Does Not Exist uses an artificial intelligence model named GPT-2 to invent new English words.”
When I visited it it generated:
- a supporting part sideways “the upflank of the bay”
- a word that does not exist; it was invented, defined and used by a machine learning algorithm.
Sort of making the rounds. If it becomes somewhat popular, I wonder if we’ll see these terms enter common usage.
“Steve Buscemi has seen it all. He was hit by a car and a bus as a kid, was once stabbed in a bar fight, volunteered as a firefighter during 9/11, and somewhere along the way became one of the most accomplished film actors of his generation. And then tragedy struck: In 2019, Buscemi lost his wife of over 30 years. In a rare interview, Hollywood’s most beloved misfit opens up about anxiety, loss, and the hard work of getting through it all.”
This is a hell of a read. He’s an impressive figure.
Sent along by Jennifer R.
Basically “name that tune / name that artist”, but multiplayer, and multiple choice (which makes it possibly too easy.)
This is up my alley.
Well there you go. Links! On Friday! We did it you guys!
I hope your weekend is most excellent.
See you in seven days. Hang in there. No joke.
